Brand consistency is important, ESPECIALLY during a website refresh. So always try to be mindful. Continue to use your strong mission statement to keep your brand recognition for your visitors, use a consistent color palette and cohesive imagery.
As much as we design our templates to have the versatility, sometimes those will just not work for your business and what you have in mind. Updating imagery and colors works WONDERS, so look past those to see if the strategy of the site setup will work for you.
This is coming from past experiences. We truly loved the colorful vibe of images and other peoples websites. But when we implemented it into our site, it was an immediate disconnect. It lasted all of two weeks and said to ourselves, "NEVER AGAIN!". Do what feels right by yourself and your online home.
